The Town of Sidney was incorporated (as a Town) in 1967, and features several inns by the sea that take advantage of the town’s quiet beauty. It has a population of 11,000 and is located on southern Vancouver Island, north of Victoria, with inns by the sea and full service marinas within walking distance of the downtown core.
Butchart Gardens, Victoria International Airport and the British Columbia Ferries are just minutes away. There are many inlets and nearby islands, along with many points of interest.
Come and stroll along the waterfront to the Centennial Bandstand and enjoy a musical interlude, a sailboat regatta or ride the “Little Ferry” to Sidney Spit Marine Park for picnics, beachcombing and camping. Sidney by the Sea also offers boating, kayaking, canoeing, scuba diving, golfing, biking, tennis, boat charters, whale watching (the best on Vancouver Island) and moorage.
Sidney offers a grand selection of friendly restaurants, outdoor cafes’ and pubs where you can enjoy the sunshine and fresh seafood or discover the shopping destination of the Peninsula. The Town of Sidney has over 100 shops, boutiques and art galleries. Known as “Booktown” Sidney offers a wide range of used and new book stores. And with the Shaw discovery Centre there is lots for everyone to learn about marine ecology.
Enjoy special Town events, such as: Sidney Days/Canada Day Celebrations; Musical Concerts at the Bandstand (July through September); Sidney Summer Market; Lighted Boat Sail Past & Santa Parade
