The best Sidney hotel booking times

Summer’s here. Have you booked your Sidney hotel room yet?

While many of our guests come for a long-term stay over the winter in order to enjoy golf courses, biking, or just walking around town, we have to admit that summer is our favorite season and it can get quite busy here.

The Saanich Peninsula and Victoria have developed a lot of festivals and events over the past ten years, so it means that there is something to do every weekend from now until after Labor Day – there’s a huge bike festival going on right now in both Victoria and the Gulf Islands, coinciding, incidentally, with Ryder Hesjedal’s ascent to the Canadian Olympic team – so things get packed.

So how to do Sidney hotel booking?

You’ll probably find that the more famous hotels closer to the center of town are all booked up. They’re very nice hotels and are close to everything, but so is the Cedarwood! We’re just a ten-minute walk from town, either along quiet small-town streets, or along the Waterfront Walkway that starts after the Anacortes Ferry Terminal.

So if you’re having problems finding a place in town, try us! We have large rooms and beautiful gardens, and we’re right across the street from the beach, with fantastic views of Haro Strait and Mount Baker. You can get up in the morning before breakfast and take a walk along the ocean. There are bald eagles to watch, and you’ll probably encounter a seal or even a Killer Whale.

If you want to wander into town for a coffee or breakfast, we’re less than 10 minutes from Starbucks on Beacon Avenue (if you want to drive, you’ll find plenty of free parking in the middle of town).

The same goes for at night. There are a wide variety of restaurants in Sidney, from Thai to Swiss to good old Canadian breakfast. We also have the most Greek restaurants per capita of any community in the world, outside of Athens.
